A career of a lifetime: Data Science

It’s been a whole year of familiarizing myself with this field of data science, and I can tell you first-hand that it has been intense. It is one thing to make that decision of going into the field until you discover that you signed up for a lifetime of learning, future unlearning, and re-learning.

Like me, there’s a chance you are already learning a skill to apply in the data science field, get a well-paying job and go up from there. I realized that I robbed myself of the chance of taking my time to understand the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ concerning this vast field and quickly got overwhelmed in it, experienced burnouts that were hard to recover from, and felt very inadequate to perform when I knew I had the potential to.

I am really new to the data science space, there is a lot I do not know (yet), and I do not accord myself the title of a writer but a student in tech taking notes, writing down observations with hopes of getting better with time.

I became unsatisfied with just knowing what things meant, the definition of concepts, and longing to know why they mean what they mean. This is why I decided to begin High on Data; to be a collection of my research, experiments, failures, victories, and observations around my work/learning journey in data science.

It is my desire that you, reading this, join me in this journey of breaking down to the simplest terms, the various concepts, the depth of this journey, the wealth of knowledge, and the time-racking research that makes this field stand out today. This promises to be edifying, (maybe exciting) for both me and you; helping me get better in mastering this field and, maybe, helping you to just know what the rave is all about in this field.
